Before entering upper level coursework, students must pass the Art & Design Student Portfolio Review. Leading to a BFA, the Design and Animation Program with a Concentration in Graphic and Interactive Design requires 120 credit hours, with 54 credits at the 200 level or higher. A Minor in Graphic and Interactive Design is available to non-BFA candidates. McMurray School of Humanities and Social Sciences at Monmouth University houses the Department of Art and Design, home to the Design and Animation Program, which has a Concentration in Graphic and Interactive Design. Established in 1855 as the New Jersey State Normal School, TCNJ serves approximately 7,400 students enrolled in more than 50 programs across seven schools. The College of New Jersey is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Program alumni are Packaging Designers, Book Designers, Advertising Designers, Web Designers, Brand Managers, Corporate Identity Designers, and Information Designer, among others. Program alumni have been accepted into graduate programs at Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), New York University (NYU), and School of Visual Arts (SVA). Graduates of the TCNJ BFA Program are prepared to pursue a graduate degree or immediate employment in the field. Students will complete Theories & Practice in Graphic Design, Professional Practice in Graphic Design, and Senior Portfolio in Graphic Design. The culminating experience for the Visual Arts-Graphic Design Program is the three-course Capstone. Course examples for the program include Conceptual Image, Design Fundamentals, Web 1, History of Graphic Design, Identity, Advanced Typography, 3D Graphic Design, Motion Graphics, and User Interface/User Experience Design. Coursework across options explores multimedia design, typography, graphic design history, web design, and image-making. The BFA has two options within the Graphic Design Specialization: Print and Digital Media. A Graphic Design Minor is also available. Part of the Visual Arts Program, the Specialization leads to a BFA. The School of the Arts and Communication at the College of New Jersey (TCNJ) houses the new Department of Design and Creative Technology, home to the Specialization in Graphic Design. Serving around 7,230 students, Rutgers-Camden offers nearly 70 degree programs in six colleges and schools. The Camden campus was established in 1926 as South Jersey Law School. With campuses in Camden, Newark, and New Brunswick serving more than 71,000 students, Rutgers is also the largest university in the New York/New Jersey metropolitan area. Founded in 1766 as Queen's College, Rutgers University, The State University of New Jersey, is the eighth oldest university in the U.S. Rutgers University is accredited by the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE). Graduates of the Graphic Design Programs at Rutgers University – Camden work in packaging design, interactive design, marketing, print design, advertising, public relations, and web design, among others. The Electronic Arts Internship is strongly recommended, but not required. All Graphic Design BA students will complete the Senior Capstone in Graphic Design. Course examples include Graphic Design Studio I-V, Computer Multimedia, Typography, Special Topics in Graphic Design, and Artist in Society. The Graphic Design Program requires 21 credits in the Concentration. Consisting of 18 credit hours, the Graphic Design Minor is an interdisciplinary program that requires the following courses: Graphic Design I-II, Visual Fundamentals, Communication Design, Introduction to Computer Graphics, and Drawing I. The College of Arts and Sciences at Rutgers University – Camden, (Rutgers-Camden) has a Graphic Design Program with BA and Minor options.
